"I am a graduate of Class 64-B at Webb AFB. Being proud of my Webb heritage and experience I am saddened that the base shut down. Flying the T-38 was a major thrill and, although I later flew the F-84-F and F-104G in the German Air Force and a multitude of corporate aircraft, nothing has been as memorable as my graduation day September 11th, 1963 at Webb AFB."

"This is a great site and I enjoy going to it often to see the new messages. I was civil service in the Medical unit (Radiology Department) 1956-1958. I did all the separation physicals during that time and met a lot of nice people. Saving the Hangar brings a lot of yesteryear back. Thanks to all who visit this page and maybe one day you can see it for real "

"Greetings great web site It was good reviewing comments of those who served at good old Webb. That was my first base after tech schools arriving early in 1952. I was an aircraft electrician and was in the Field Maint. Sq. The shop chief was a civilian named Martin Skaggs. We worked on T-28s and T-33s. I was there for 4 1/2 years before shipping out to Chitose, Japan. My son was born at the base hospital 31 May 1956 I stayed in the AF for 20 years and retired in 1971. I will always have fond memories of Webb. P.S. my wife (now deceased) was from Cohoma, Tx. Her maiden name was Gloria D. Owens"

"I was Air (later Security) Police Officer and Chief at Webb AFB from 1965-68 and Chief of Administration 1968-69. Our best souvenirs are the two children born in the old WWII era hospital. We still recall the sunsets from Scenic Mountain."

"Thanks for a wonderful website and your efforts to preserve our Air Force history. I intend to visit Big Spring on Friday 21 May. The purpose is to do additional research on Big Spring AAF for my fourth book. I write histories of USAAF training fields and have published three books titled Forgotten Fields of America, Vol.I, Vol. II and Vol.III. Each book tells the story of 12 WW II USAAF training fields. As you know, they were small cities and each has a fascinating story to tell. There is very little written about this part of our history and it should be remembered. Almost 15,000 young men were killed in aircrew training during WW II. And that was just at the Air Force training fields here in the US. There were 345 major training fields the size of Big Spring scattered all over the US during the war. I will be ariving in Big Spring mid-morning from Hobbs, N.M. I would very appreciative if there would be someone I could meet who might have time to spend with me to show me around the former base. Is that possible? Thank you."

"Two years ago Mr. Clarence Hartfield , a former high school buddy of mine ,gave me a business card with this webb address on it . I haven't seen him since that time. I know absolutely nothing about this site but it is hip. After living in California for many years (I moved to Texas 3 years ago) I, my wife Mary, my son Tim and my daughter Mo, moved to Midland to be with my mother and father (dad was called to his Heavenly mission, Mar. 2000). I am a Viet-nam veteran, a retired Radioshack employee, and ardent fan of Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, and Willie Nelson. I am also a musician of sorts. I vote when necessary, and pray for peace everyday because there is so much trouble in the world. I have five (5) grown children, three (3) of whom live in California and my oldest one (1) whom I believe lives in Augusta Georgia (1966 - ). My youngest child lives with us.Please feel free to E-mail me for a friendly chat. may God Bless you"

"Thanks for preserving our heritage. Sending a picture of us when we were younger. We both retired from the Air Force; I was a Chief, Belinda was a Master Sergeant. She was also stationed at Big Spring as a dependent."

"Loved the site. I'm glad to see some one cares about the history of Webb AFB. My dad was stationed there in the early 70's. I enjoyed being there and loved the military life that I joined the Air Force myself and retired after 20 rewarding years. You bet I'll be checking back and when I can, I'll be visiting."
